Place Value up to 100 Mathematics - Grade 2 🎉

Lesson Objectives 🧠 Recognize the place value of units and tens ✍️ Write numbers using place values 🧮 Compose two-digit numbers using tens and units

Lesson Introduction Let's start with an interactive question: How many fingers do you have on one hand? (5) And how many on both hands? (10) Numbers are made up of places that help us know their value. Example: Number 25 = 2 tens and 5 units.

Explaining Place Value 🔹 Units: numbers from 0 to 9 🔹 Tens: every 10 units make 1 ten Example: Number 42 = 4 tens and 2 units Number 57 = 5 tens and 7 units

Examples 1. What is the place value of 36? 3 in the tens place = 30 6 in the units place = 6 2. Number 58 = 5 tens and 8 units

Interactive Activity ⭐ Let's play with numbers! Example: Number 43 = 4 groups of 10 sticks + 3 single sticks Ask students to create other numbers like 27 and 65 using blocks or sticks.

Practice Fill in the table: Number | Tens | Units -------------------- 45 | ____ | ____ 68 | ____ | ____ 29 | ____ | ____

Conclusion Today we learned that numbers are made of places: units and tens. Every 10 units = 1 ten. Well done, math champions! 🎉😊
