01 What is poetry?

How would you define poetry in one word? Poetry What is it? is a literary genre It is expressed through the word Transmits feelings, emotions, ideas or reflections Written in verse or prose

Types of poetry Lyric poetry Dramatic poetry Epic poetry Expresses the poet's feelings and emotions The poems are melancholic and nostalgic The poems can be accompanied by a lyre playing melodies Narrates events which include dialogues or monologues Tragedy or comedy Long poems Narrates real or imaginary events, present or historical Long poems Discloses a specific situation, a character or the transmission of a value

02 Parts of poetry

The verse The verse is each of the lines that make up the poem in question

The stanza A set of verses forms a stanza. The classification of a stanza depends on the number of lines that compose it. To distinguish one stanza from another, a blank space is left after ending with a period

The rhyme Rhyme is a widely used tool in poetry. It helps us create special sounds and melodies at the end of words in a verse. There are two types of rhyme you can use: assonant rhyme, which is based on the vowels of the last syllable of the verse being alike, and consonant rhyme, which seeks to match all the sounds of the last syllable of the verse

The rhythm It is the musicality given to each verse. It is produced by the repetition of the stressed syllables in each of the lines of verse

03 Tips for writing poetry

Tips for writing poetry Find a quiet place where you can feel relaxed and have something to write as you get inspired Choose a main theme for your poem When writing your ideas, it is advisable to do it first in a draft and then in a final form Remember that we must apply lyrical language Ask yourself these questions to arrive at the purpose of your poem: What do I want to convey? What will be the purpose of the poem? What emotions would I like the reader to feel?

Tips for writing poetry Use the parts that make up the poem according to the type of poem you choose Define the storyteller you want to be Feel free to write freely, express your feelings and emotions, ideas and reflections. Do it in a personal way so that it becomes a unique piece of writing Think of a title and don't forget to write your name at the end of the poem you have created

Activity 1 Write a poem using at least 5 of the following words: Magic, Sun, Rat, Run, Moon, Glue, See, Hat, Spoon, True, Cat, Fun, Bee, Shoe, Free, Tree, Done, Mat, Balloon, Blue

Activity 2 Freely write a poem that has at least: 3 stanzas composed of 4 lines of verse each and 2 rhymes per stanza
