6. Activity 1:
You have to create a brochure for a free tour which shows visitors
art around the city of London.
The visit will start in the morning, with a visit to the National
Gallery, and will continue in the afternoon, with a walk around
the are of Shoreditch, famous for its urban art.
Do some research and include all the necessary information.

Vitual tors
→ National Gallery Google Art Project
→ Shoreditch on maps.google.com and use the Street View
function. (
Search for: “Brick Lane Street” to start, for example).

9. To be included in yor tavelogue:
- The brochure (printed and folded, you can attach it with a clip)
- Your experience going on the tour (check next slide for ideas)

10. Choose a painting from the National Gallery which has drawn
your attention. Explain why you liked it and tell us a bit about it
(its author, what it represents, why is it relevant…).
Compare the academic art in the National Gallery with the
Urban Art from Shoreditch. Which style resonates with you
best?
Try to locate some graffti by well-known artists from London
and write about their work.
How many female artists did you come across at the National
Gallery? What about urban art, do you think female
representation is higher now?
Do you like visiting museums? Why/why not?
Do you think urban art makes a city more visually appealing or is
it just a form of vandalism?
