Grammar Focus – Simple Present Tense We use the Simple Present Tense to describe animals. Examples: • A lion is strong and brave. • A mouse is small but clever. • Birds can fly. Pattern: Subject + Verb 1 (s/es) + Object / Complement
Story: The Lion and the Mouse One day, a lion caught a mouse. The mouse begged for mercy and promised to help someday. The lion laughed but let the mouse go. Later, the lion was trapped in a net. The mouse heard him and came to help by cutting the net. The lion was free and thanked the mouse. They became good friends.
Comprehension Questions 1. Who are the main characters in the story? 2. What happened to the lion? 3. How did the mouse help the lion? 4. What is the moral value of the story? 5. Do you think small creatures can be helpful? Why?
Learning Activities 1. Observe pictures of animals and describe them. 2. Read and discuss the story 'The Lion and the Mouse'. 3. Answer comprehension questions. 4. Act out the story in pairs or groups. 5. Write a short description of your favorite animal.
