Ask students to share their favorite adventure stories or movies and what they enjoy about them. Introduce the topic of narrative text and explain that an adventure story is a type of narrative text that takes readers on an exciting journey with characters facing challenges and overcoming obstacles. Share the learning objectives with the students.

My friends! 2 Reading Activity

Reading and Identifying Story Elements (30 minutes) Distribute copies of the adventure narrative text to students. Explain the importance of identifying story elements to understand the narrative better. Model the process of reading by reading aloud the first few paragraphs or pages of the text, thinking aloud to identify characters, setting, and plot. Guide students to identify and write down the story elements (characters, setting, and plot) they observe in the text.

Reading and Identifying Story Elements (30 minutes) Allow students to work in pairs or small groups to continue reading the text and identify story elements independently. Circulate the classroom to provide support and clarify any questions or misconceptions. Reconvene as a whole class to discuss the story elements identified by students, allowing them to share their findings and explanations. Write the story elements on the board or chart paper for reference.

Summarizing Key Events (30 minutes) Explain the importance of summarizing key events to understand the main storyline of an adventure narrative. Provide students with a graphic organizer or guide for summarizing narrative text (optional). Instruct students to read the next section of the adventure narrative independently. Ask them to summarize the main events, focusing on the significant developments and key plot points. Encourage students to use their graphic organizers or guides to organize their summaries. Allow students to share their summaries in pairs or small groups and provide constructive feedback to one another. Select a few students to share their summaries with the whole class and facilitate a discussion on the main events identified.
