STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM 1. What is the effect of participating in extracurricular activities on the academic performance of students?
FINDINGS About 79.63% of Grade 12 students express a positive perception towards the impact of participating in extracurricular activities on their academic performance. This percentage is derived from the combined responses of those who strongly agree and agree across the various survey questions.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM 2. Which type of extracurricular activities are associated with the highest levels of academic performance?
FINDINGS According in our study it appears that sports have the highest participation rate among the surveyed individuals, with 27.8% actively engaging in sports-related extracurricular activities. This suggests a potential association between involvement in sports and higher levels of academic performance.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM 3. How does the duration and frequency of participation in extracurricular activities affect academic performance?
FINDINGS Based on our research 53.7% (1-3 hours per week) and regular participation (weekly) might be associated with positive academic outcomes. Conversely, extreme durations (less than 1 hour or more than 6 hours) and less frequent engagement (monthly or quarterly) may pose challenges to academic performance.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM 4. To what extent does academic performance be affected by extracurricular activities, considering: 4.1. The number of hours of participation. 4.2. The influence of leadership roles.
FINDINGS The data suggests that a substantial portion, 53.7%, dedicates 1-3 hours per week to extracurricular activities, potentially indicating a balanced commitment. Further analysis could explore whether this moderate time investment correlates with positive academic performance. Conversely, 37.03% spending less than 1 hour and 7.4% investing 4-6 hours or more might be examined to assess their impact on academic outcomes.
FINDINGS Given that 18.5% of respondents hold leadership roles in extracurricular activities, it is worthwhile to explore how these positions may influence academic performance. Leadership roles often involve additional responsibilities, and understanding whether individuals in such roles exhibit distinct academic outcomes would provide valuable insights into the interplay between leadership in extracurricular activities and scholastic achievements.
