Use your NTU IT account username and

•The username is your NTU student ID
number.
•The default password is a lower case
“a” plus your date of birth. For
example, if you were born on 22

the default password into your own

Important reminder: As all incoming
exchange students will be identified by
NTU’s course selection system as
freshmen, you will not be able to select
certain courses during the 1st and 2nd
online course selection periods. To get
enrolled in those courses, you have to
email or meet the lecturer in person,
and ask for an authorization code to
complete the registration (for detail
please see p.19).

1.There are quite a few ways of finding a course you need and you can play
around. If you are required by your home university to select courses
inside the discipline you belong to back at home, you are recommended
to narrow down your search inside a certain department.
2.All NTU courses are opened to exchange studentssubject to fulfillment
of prerequisites, availability of seats, timetabling as well as approval of
home institutions, relevant academic departments, and especially,
instructors. That is, you are welcome to select outside of College of Social
Sciences so long as you are allowed to by your home university.

•First, please do not panic if you fail to enroll in any courses during the
online selection stages! You are not alone.
•You may find this video guidehelpful. Your NTU buddy is more than
happy to give you a hand too

Make a list of courses you are interested in.Email the lecturers or meet them in
person in their first class, sincerely explain why you need to take their course, and ask
for an authorization code. Enter the code to the course selection system to complete
registration. Most lecturers are happy to help international students.
NTU General Chinese Courses
•Those who want to take the courses MUST sit the placement test on
August 31, 2024 even if you are a zero-beginner.
**Details will be provided via email from NTU Plus Academy .
•General Chinese Courses can only be added by NTU staff after
students submit their registration sheets on the placement test day.
Students should confirm their registration results on the online
course selection system one week after the placement test.

All NTU courses conducted in English are open to exchange
students subject to fulfillment of prerequisites, availability of
seats, timetabling as well as approval of home institutions,
relevant academic departments, and especially, instructors.

You may want to check out courses offered by other humanity
disciplines such as Law, Management, and Liberal Arts to not
miss any courses you are interested in.
•Confirmation should be done during the period of Sept 25-27,
2024.
•All courses you would like to take should appear on your
personal list of selected courses by September 27. If not, this is
the last chance you can appeal to us.
•During September 18-November 22,you will have the chance to
withdraw from ONE course. The difference between drop and
withdraw is that the latter is allowed once per semester only,
and will be recorded on the final transcript.
•Withdrawal should be applied through the Withdrawal
Application System.
•Please check your NTU email box regularly in order not to miss
any important messages from the instructors of the courses you
already selected (ID and password are the same as the one you
used to select courses).
•If circulated messages issued by the university’s divisions are in
Chinese only and you find what you get from Google Translate is
nonsense, feel free to ask us for help.

By MRT (please refer to the Taipei MRT map)
•If you are flying to Taiwan Taoyuan Airportand plan to use
the MRT, please take the purple line (Airport Line) first and
get off at BeimenStation (G13). From there change to the
green line (Songshan-XindianLine) and get off at Gongguan
Station (G07).
•If you are flying to Taipei SongshanAirport and plan to use
the MRT, please take the brown line (WenhuLine) first and
get off at Nanjing FuxingStation (BR11). From there change
to the green line (Songshan-XindianLine) and get off at
GongguanStation (G07).
Transport from airport to NTU
By Bus + Taxi (for flights arriving after 22:30)
•This information only applies to those flying to Taiwan
Taoyuan Airport
•Airport ticket counters are located at the Arrival
Passenger Reception Areas of both terminals, T1 & T2.
Take Kuo-KuangLine (Bus 1819, operating 24 hours)
and get off at Taipei Main Station. The fare is TWD135.
From there take a taxi to NTU Prince House, and the
fare is about TWD250.
By Taxi only
•If you plan to take taxi directly from the airport to
downtown Taipei, it charges around TWD1,500-1,900
from Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, and TWD300-400 from
Taipei SongshanAirport. Airport taxi service operates
24 hours a day. A night time surcharge may apply after
11pm.

Steps to take
1You will receive a registration form and Campus Internet Access Fee
payment sheet upon reporting. Bring your payment sheet to either a
convenience store (e.g. 7-Eleven) or ChungHwaPost on campus and make
the payment TWD400/semester.
2It is recommended that you get the exam done in your home country.
Download the designated form here. All items (including physical and
laboratory tests, and Form C) are must-do, and note that only results issued
after July 1, 2024 are acceptable. Make sure your doctor fill in all the
information required and have all boxes ticked. Don’t forget to attach an
ID photo on the upper right.
If you do have difficulties taking the health exam at home, follow the
instructions to go for one at the NTU Hospital. Please don’t make it as your
top choice though as the hospital is extremely busy.
3You must purchase accident and medical insurance EACH worth a
minimum of TWD1,000,000 (approx. USD34,000) valid for the entire
exchange period.
Do purchase the insurance at home as it is not possible to buy one in
Taiwan without ARC (Alien Resident Certificate), and one-semester
exchange students are not allowed to apply for ARC.

One-semester exchange

General Visa Applications. The following information is
for your reference only and please contact your local
Taiwan visa office for the latest information.

Please apply for a Visitor Visa. If you plan to visit
other countries during your exchange period in Taiwan,
please do apply for a Multiple Entry and it should be
valid until your final departure from Taiwan. Please
note that it is NOT possible to change a Single Entry to
a Multiple one if you are already in Taiwan.
In general the maximum length of stay for Visitor Visa
holders is 90 days, so most students with a Visitor Visa will
need to apply for an extension at least once withthe
National Immigration Agency in Taiwan. A Visitor Visa
Extension must be applied for within 15 days of the
expiration date.
For students who plan to travel to China during your
exchange period, please note that there is no Chinese
consular office in Taiwan, so please apply for the Chinese
Visa before you come to Taiwan.
One-year exchange

Please apply for a Resident Visa. A Resident Visa
holder will have to apply for an Alien Resident
Certificate (ARC) at the National Immigration Agency
within 15 days upon his/her arrival in Taiwan*. A Re-
Entry Permit can also be applied for at the same time.
Please note that the health exam form for Resident
Visa applicationand the NTU health form are not to
be used interchangeably. Take both forms to a hospital
and request to have both forms filled out.
For students who plan to travel to China during your
exchange period, please note that there is no Chinese
consular office in Taiwan, so please do apply for the
Chinese Visa before you come to Taiwan.
*Detail will be provided when you are in Taiwan.
Hong Kong passport holders
•Please apply for your entry permit
here.
•Make sure that your entry permit
covers your entire exchange period.
