Outlines (1) Introduction (2) Problem of Research (3) Objectives of Research (4) Frame work

Introduction The wheelchair is the method for carrying and moving the disabled. It is the best way / method for overcoming their sufferings in moving from a place to another. The wheelchair has been developed many times since it was manufactured in the Ancient Egyptians and Romans times. In 1990[1], it was developed to have four wheels and pushed by hands. But , to be pulsed by hands was unstable in many cases . So a new electrical model was developed which is called electrical wheelchair as shown figures.

Problem of Research: When using the wheelchair to move from one place to another, we find low battery charge level that feeds the DC motors with electric power; this entails the presence of an electric charger and a stop to connect the charger with an electrical current causing loss of time and energy. One of the most important solutions of this problem is by using small solar cells to provide electrical energy connected to the battery charge circuit throughout the operating time to ensure that the battery charge not discharged, this encouraged the researcher to search for PV based wheelchair using BLDC motor .

Objectives of Research The suggested research plan includes the following points : 1- Exploring different methods and designs in solar charging. 2- Comparison of the different methods used in solar battery charging design. 3-Design and implementation of advanced battery charging circuit to make maximum use of solar energy at the lowest cost and highest efficiency, with their testing and evaluation of their performance. 4- Addition of the renewable energy part of the electronic circuit’s course for second-grade students in the electronics department of industrial secondary schools.

Frame work: PV wheelchair : Description of PV wheelchair components The wheelchair consists of the following parts : 1. PV ( photovoltaic cell ) module 2. charging control 3. battery 4. BLDC motor 5. Control unit

PV ( photovoltaic cell ) module How it works:- - Solar power -Steam produced to turn turbine - Solar heating - Photovoltaic cells * Advantages - renewable and free - High energy yield - A very clean source of energy - Low operating cost *Disadvantages -Intermittent source -Energy storage issues - Low energy density

Battery : The capacity of a battery is measured in Ampere- hours (Ah ) Lead acid battery is commonly: used because of its features such as wide operating temperature range; low self-discharge, long service life and maintenance free. Considering the high initial installation cost of the PV system, it is always necessary to operate PV at its Maximum Power Point (MPP). Control unit : Control unit functions: 2) Moving backward 3) Turning to the right 4) Turning to the left 5) Stop

BLDC motor : The BLDC motors are widely used in applications including appliances, medical, automated industrial equipment and instrumentation. The BLDC motor is electrically commutated with power switches instead of brushes. Compared with a brushed DC motor or an induction motor BLDC advantages: Have higher efficiency and reliability Lower sonic noise Smaller and lighter Higher speed versus torque characteristics Higher speed range Greater dynamic response Longer life
