2. The education in Ecuador is regulated by the Ministry of Education The activity schedules have two seasons :  Coast  and  Sierra  -  Amazonia  .

3. Divi ded into public fiscomisional municipal  and  private .

4. The Ecuadorian educational system is divided into the following levels : Initial education Basic general education Baccalaureate . Superior.

5. The Basic General Education level is divided into 4 sublevels : Basic Preparatory (Sub- level 1)  , which corresponds to the 1st grade of EGB and is preferably offered to students 5 years of age . Basic Elementary (Sub- level 2)  , which corresponds to 2nd, 3rd. and 4th. EGB degrees and is preferably offered to students from 6 to 8 years of age . Basic Middle (Sub- level 3)  , which corresponds to 5th, 6th. and 7th. EGB degrees and is preferably offered to students from 9 to 11 years of age . Higher Basic (Sub- level 4)  ¸ which corresponds to 8th, 9th. and 10th. EGB degrees and is preferably offered to students from 12 to 14 years of age .

6. In Ecuador one can also start from lower levels , such as nursery and kindergarten, you can start from 4 years old . In Higher Education , the agency in charge is the National Secretariat of Higher Education , Science , Technology and Innovation (SENESCYT). Before entering the university , students must take an exam , whose average their acceptance into the public university system will depend .
