SEED DETERIORATION
Seed Deterioration, marked by slow growth and
poor germination, is caused by factors like high
temperaturte, humidity, and moisture content,
leading to cellular damage, membrane
breakdown, enzyme loss and DNA lesions from
reactive oxygen species (ROS)

SYMPTOMS
•Reduced Germination: Seed don’t sprout well.
•PoorVigor: Week Seedlings
•AbnormalSeedlings: Deformed or unhealthygrowth.
•IncreasedSusceptibility to deseases: Seeds more
pronetopathogens.
•Loss of viability: Seeds lose abilityto germinate.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
+Moisture Exposure: High humidity can lead to deterioration.
+Temperature Extremes: toohot or coldcan damageseeds.
+Poor storageconditions: Inadequatefacilities can harmseeds.
+MechanicalDamage: Physical injury duringhandling.
+Pathogen infection: Fungi,bacteria,affecting seeds.
+Genetic Factors: some seedsnaturallyhave shorterviability.
