Welcome to OSH in ICT! What is Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)? Why is it important in Information and Communication Technology (ICT)? Can you think of any safety rules you follow at home or school?

What is a Hazard? A hazard is anything that can cause harm. Examples: Wet floors, exposed wires, heavy boxes. What hazards have you noticed around you?

Understanding Risks Risk is the chance of a hazard causing harm. Not all hazards pose the same level of risk. Can you think of a situation where a hazard might be a high risk?

Types of Hazards in ICT Physical Hazards: Cables on the floor, slippery surfaces. Chemical Hazards: Cleaning chemicals for electronics. Electrical Hazards: Exposed wires, open electronic devices. Can you identify any of these hazards in your classroom?

The 5S Methodology Originating in Japan for efficiency and safety. The 5S stands for: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain. How could you use the 5S method to organize your desk?

Sort: Clearing the Clutter Remove items that are not needed. Keep only what is necessary for work. What items on your desk can you sort out right now?

Set in Order: Everything in its Place Arrange items for easy access. A place for everything, and everything in its place. How would you organize your school supplies for easy access?

Shine: Keeping it Clean Regularly clean your workspace. No trash or dirt should be in the area. What can you do to keep your computer area clean?

Standardize: Making it Routine Maintain cleanliness after every use. Make cleaning a part of your daily routine. What routines can you create to keep your ICT area safe and clean?

Sustain: Sticking to the Rules Keep up with the standards you've set. Make safety and cleanliness a habit. How will you remind yourself to follow these safety rules every day?
