what is guidance and counseling? It is a process of helping individuals discovers and develop their educational , vocational, and psychological potentials to achieve an optimal level of personal happiness and social usefulness. Counseling Is an activity in which organization take part. It is giving information that enabler others to increase the scope of their exploratory behavior. This provide information about the person’s own abilities and interests as determined by psychological tests or about educational opportunities and the requirements of various occupations. Goal of TESDA Is to provide platform for the holistic development of TVET learners during the learning process that includes the intellectual, mental, social, emotional and physical abilities to be competently skilled, adaptable, and successful TVET Graduates .

THE FRONT-END SERVICES PRE –ENROLLMENT Reinforce the development of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials of the training institution for strengthened life skills, values education, and TVET advocacy service. ADMISSION Establish and Provide frontline services using the Public Assistance Complaints Desk. Administer and document the conduct of an aptitude or ability test and interest assessments. Provide the learner-applicant thereafter with applicable vocational/career guidance coaching/advising/counseling based on the result of the admission assessments. Conduct a pre-training orientation program (ORSEM)

Role of guidance counselor during admission process The V/CGU shall ensure a special lane, facility, and/or amenity for the differently abled personnel, senior citizens, and pregnant women who want to avail the various TVET program offerings of the institution during the admission proceedings. The Guidance Counselor will schedule the conduct of aptitude or ability test and interest assessment after the assigned personnel endorsed the applicant-trainee learners. However, the applicant-trainee/learner may not proceed with the aptitude or ability test and interest assessment as scheduled when they provide a copy of the NCAE result, instead, the applicant-trainee/learner undergoes the interview.
The Registered Guidance Counselor provides feedback, coaching, advising, and/or counseling as regards the result of the aptitude or ability test with reference and consideration to the learner’s initial interest The assigned personnel in the Vocational/Career Guidance Unit issues the admission slip and endorses the applicant-trainee/learner to the Office of the Registrar for enrolment proper .
Administration and conducting the test Before the test Informed the test takers. Be familiar with the test. Ensure that the testing room is conducive to the test takers. Seats should be arranged. ( Be sensitive to special needs that may make regular seating unsuitable, e.g. visual or hearing impairment, body size, left handedness,etc.. Allow special seats for these cases.)
during the test 1 . Explain the test directions/instructions to the test examinees. 2. Establish rapport . Try to reduce the anxiety level. Some humour may help. Motivate the test takers. 3. Avoid interruptions. 4. During the testing, the test administrator should move around the room to observe the testing situation and to make certain that the students are following the directions, working on the correct tests, and marking the responses correctly on the answer sheet. 5. Collect the test materials and answer sheet after the given time period.
