It must be consistent, compatible with scientific knowledge and also with local culture, educational system and social gods

2- Interest It is a psychological principle that people are unlikely to listen to those things which are not to their interest. Health teaching should be related to the interests of the people For example : when health educator gives health education about breast feeding for group of menopause woman's at MCH center they may be not listening for him because the topic not interested for them so the health educator should be assess need of people first and then give health education according to this need.

3-Participation It should aim at encouraging people to work actively with health workers and identifying their own health problems. Health educator should give an opportunity for the clients to go through the stages of identification of problems, planning, implementation , and evaluation. for example: Health educators should be used active learning when give health education such as group discussion, workshops and role play and encourage people to participate. for example, group discussion about family planning

4- Known to unknown : Start where the people are they understand and then go ahead to new knowledge. We must proceed • “From the concrete to the abstract” • “From the particular to the general” • “From the simple to the more complicated” • “From the easy to more difficult” • “From the known to unknown”

5-Reinforcement Repetition at interval and take feedback is extremely useful for understanding all health information and level of understanding. Repetition of message at intervals is necessary. If the message is repeated in different ways , people are more likely to remember it.

6-Motivation : Motivation can be said to be the act of awakening desire for success or the ability to strive in order to achieve a set goal. A health educator should be motivating in his words and actions as such propelling the audience to do that which is difficult or hard for them to do.

7-Communication Health educators must be aware of the various barriers of communication and cultural background of the community. The health educator has to adjust his talk and action to suit the group for whom he has to give health education. When the health educator has to deal with illiterates and poor people, he has knowledge about the local language

ethical standards for the practice of medicine 8-Need Based All health-related education should be need based. Community health education program should be purposeful, ascertain, specific and relevant to the problems and available solutions

9-change Behavior Purpose of health-related education is to change behavior. Therefore, multidisciplinary approach is necessary to understand man behavior as well as for effective teaching process. For example : The health education provider seeks to improve wrong behavior, such as explaining the correct step of hand washing

10-Scientific based knowledge Health related education must be on scientific and current knowledge based. Therefore , a health educator should have recent scientific knowledge to provide health education 11-Good human relations The health educator must be kind and sympathetic. People must accept him as their real friend. Good relationships that lead to good communication are of utmost importance in health education

The teaching should be within the mental capacity of the people . 14-Learning by doing The importance of learning by doing can be best illustrated by the Chinese proverb “if I hear, I forget; if I see, I remember; if I do, I know”.

15-Compare and upgrade knowledge It must be remembered that people have no information or ideas about health. The health educators are not only passing information but also give an opportunity to clients to analyses old ideas with new ones, compare with past experience and take decisions that are found favorable and beneficial. For example: In the past, eggs and toothpaste were used to treat burns, but recently we are using better methods, such as Mibo

15-Feedback Is one of the key concepts of the systems, the health education in the light feedback from his receivers. 16.leadership Community leaders can be used to reach people of the community and to convince them about the need for health education. So, the health workers before starting any program 17.Setting an example The health Educator should set a good example in the things he is teaching. e.g., If he is explaining the hazards of smoking, he will not be very successful, if himself smokes .
