2. Research Problem statement A problem statement is basically a statement that illustrates a clear vision and the overall method that will be used to solve the problem at hand. A problem statement is an explanation in research that describes the issue that is in need of study. What problem is the research attempting to address? Having a Problem Statement allows the reader to quickly understand the purpose and intent of the research.

3. PROBLEM STATEMENT ‘A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on prevention and post exposure prophylaxis of Needle stick injury among first year bsc nursing student of Saaii college of medical and technology ,Kanpur’

4. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY: 1. To assess the pre-test knowledge of student nurses regarding prevention and postexposure prophylaxis of needle stick injury. 2. To assess the post-test knowledge of student nurses regarding prevention and post exposure prophylaxis of needle stick injury. 3. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme by comparing pre-test and post test knowledge score of student nurses on prevention and postexposure prophylaxis of needle stick injury. 4. To find out the association between the pre-test knowledge score of student nurses on prevention and post exposure prophylaxis of needle stick injury with selected demographic variables.

5. HYPOTHESIS Hypothesis is tested at the level of significance There is significant difference in the knowledge score of student nurses on prevention and post exposure prophylaxis of needle stick injury before and after the administration of structured teaching programme measured by structured knowledge questionnaire. There is a significant association between pre test knowledge score regarding prevention and post exposure prophylaxis of needle stick injury among student nurses with selected baseline data.

6. ASSUMPTIONS Student nurses will have some knowledge regarding prevention and postexposure prophylaxis of needle stick injury. The selected demographic variables have an influence on knowledge of students nurses.
