2021 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS PROJECT SAFETY : “ S pecific and A ppropriate F irsthand E xecution of T eacher-programmed activities related to Y oungsters’ Learning in Modular Distance Learning” ( Modular Distance Learning )   ACTION RESEARCH PROPOSAL

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS I.CONTEXT AND RATIONALE This action research presents the well-thought action plan to make the modular distance learning more relevant and responsive to the needs of the learners in this New Normal Education. This school year will be the second time that the learners at Rosario Elementary School adapted the Printed Modular Distance Learning and face to face is not yet implemented or not yet at least among the pilot school to conduct face to face instruction. That is why, teachers’ concern among the learners who perform not good in their academic still the priority to give importance and action plan is needed.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS I.CONTEXT AND RATIONALE The Proclamation No. 922 s. 2020 declaring the Philippines under National State of Public Health Emergency still in effect and the learning set-up of the school, the New Normal Education implemented by the Department of Education still applied by the different schools. Rosario Elementary School is not among the pilot school to conduct face to face instruction, so our school is continuously implementing the Printed Modular Distance Learning. This learning modality ensures that education of the learners must go on as top priority along with the health of each learner.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS I.CONTEXT AND RATIONALE Rosario Elementary School is implementing the Printed Modular Distance Learning as the suited learning delivery mode for our school. This Printed Modular Distance Learning is using learning modules or self-learning modules in print and e-copy for those with device. Printed modules are distributed to the learners and should be answered at home with the supervision of the parents.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS I.CONTEXT AND RATIONALE This action research is made to combat the challenges and concern brought by this learning modality especially to the low performing learners of Grade Six at Rosario Elementary School. This learning modality limits the face to face instruction of the teacher so strategies and innovations should be made to cater the needs of these low performing learners academically.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS I.CONTEXT AND RATIONALE These are the challenges and concerns of these low performing learners in Modular Distance Learning. Some of their parents are incapable of helping them to answer their modules. Some of their parents are busy working so helping them is limited. Some of them are helping their parents to work and the time to study is not the priority. Some of them are living with their relatives that they have their own children to attend to. These low performing learners need guidance and supervision to study and to answer their module. However at home some of them have different challenges and concerns to hinder them in learning.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS I.CONTEXT AND RATIONALE According to Narad and Abdullah (2016), academic performance is the knowledge gained which is assessed by marks by a teacher and/or educational goals set by learners and teachers to be achieved over a specific period, he added that these goals are measured by using continuous assessment .

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS I.CONTEXT AND RATIONALE In response to the challenges and concerns mention above, this action research provides action plan to ease and take into account the things need to be done to help these low performing learners of Grade Six at Rosario Elementary School. Project SAFETY “Specific and Appropriate Firsthand Execution of Teacher-programmed activities related to Youngsters’ Learning in Modular Distance Learning” is the project used by the Grade Six teacher to help these low performing learners to improve academically.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS II.ACTION RESEARCH QUESTIONS 1.What are the challenges and concerns faced by the low performing learners in Modular Distance Learning ? 2. What is the impact of Project SAFETY to the low performing learners of Grade Six at Rosario Elementary School in Modular Distance Learning ? 3. Is there an improvement of the academic performance to these low performing learners using the intervention implemented ?

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS III.PROPOSED INNOVATION,INTERVENTION,AND STRATEGY Project SAFETY “Specific and Appropriate Firsthand Execution of Teacher-programmed activities related to Youngsters’ Learning in Modular Distance Learning” This is an action plan used by the Grade Six teacher to address the problem of the low performing learners to improve their academic performance. The teacher is first identify these low performing learners in academic and as to why they performed low then the teacher is giving remedy by making a teacher-made activities which is simple and according to their level and these activities are related to the module they are answering.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS III.PROPOSED INNOVATION,INTERVENTION,AND STRATEGY Then these teacher-made activities are explained and reaching out to the students regularly to monitor, assess, and check their improvement. Also, to let the learners feel that they are important. Visiting and Reaching these learners required of following the minimum health standard . Project SAFETY is to be done by visiting regularly the low performing learners of Grade Six at home by the teacher to check, monitor and assist these learners in answering their modules as well providing them with teacher-made learning activities suited to their academic performance. This is to be done by observing and following the safety protocols mandated by the IATF.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS IV.ACTION RESEARCH METHODS Participants and/or other Sources of Data and Information The participants of this action research are the 9 low performing learners out of 26 learners of Grade Six at Rosario Elementary School.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS IV.ACTION RESEARCH METHODS b. Data Gathering Methods Following the preliminaries in research, the researcher is following the protocols before conducting the study. Submit letter to the school head and endorsement to the SDS to conduct research. The researcher has gathered data on the low performing learners of Grade Six learners through their Academic grades that below 79%. T he researcher has been conducting the intervention based from the problem and will be conducting the effectiveness of the intervention. The result will be gathered, tabulated, interpreted, and analyzed data for recommendation and findings.

2022 DISTRICT RESEARCH CONGRESS IV.ACTION RESEARCH METHODS c. Data Analysis Plan This study will be using descriptive statistical tools in analyzing the data. The data from the survey questionnaire will be processed, interpreted and analyzed using mean, median, mode, frequency, percentage, and standard deviation. These will be used to show the effectiveness of project SAFETY to improve the academic performance of the low performing learners of Grade Six learners.
