Why 3Rs (Reading, Writing, Arithmetic) are a top priority of DepEd CDOs Learning Recovery Program? Learning to write, read and count is an issue. Reading, writing and counting is not a simple activity. Difficulty of learners in distance learning. Constrained access to resources in schools. No face-to-face contact with teachers.
EXPLICIT TEACHING A 3-month intervention of explicit instruction and practice for target learners a direct instruction, a teacher-led teaching method that gives clear and guided instructions to learners in teaching literacy and numeracy. We focus on
Who are the recipients? Learners with identified skills deficits in reading, writing and arithmetic in Grades 3 to 7 level. Who are the recipients?
What physical or informational materials to be used in the intervention? Writing Guides/Tracing Letters, Set Cards Marungko Approach , word cards, numeral cards Fuller Approach, number chart Participant’s Kit window cards Flash cards tracing of number and words Learning Activity Sheets, maps, globes

Our aim is not to restrict children within an artificial formula but to give them the tools of expression. In-person class instruction observing COVID safety health protocols.
When and how much is the duration and dosage of the intervention? Duration: 3 months (September- November 2022) Dosage: 1 session per subject area per week Time: 5-15 minutes per session How is the mode of delivery? As we teach the process of writing, reading and counting, we will assist intervention participants with different skills. Our aim is not to restrict children within an artificial formula but to give them the tools of expression. In-person class instruction observing COVID safety health protocols.
How to maximize effective implementation? The intervention is focused on the development/ enhancement of literacy and numeracy of the learners following the tenets of Explicit Instruction. A 5-10 minute simple learning activity shall be employed for the learners before, during, or after the class in all subject areas focusing on reading, writing, and arithmetic. This learning activity is aligned with the subject matter of the particular SUBTASK learning competency.
