It is a method of teaching in which students either work individually or in a group to achieve pre planned objectives. This is a practical method directed and planned by students and involves all types of mental and manipulative activities, carried out under the supervision of teacher

Types of project method 1. Individual project: The individual is responsible for the beginning and completing the project. 2. Group project: More than two individual participating in a project is called group project.= 3. Producer type: In this type emphasis is directed towards the actual construction of a material object or article 4. Consumer type: It is a project for learning, the main aim is needs of the consumer or community at the receiving end. 5. Problem type: The main purpose is to solve a problem involving intellectual processes. 6. Drill type: The objective is to attain degree of skill in a reaction.

Essential of good project: 1. Timely: The project should be completed intime . 2. Usefulness: The project must be capable of being applied in life. 3. Interesting: Projects should interesting to students. 4. Challenging: Projects should neither be toosimple and easy nor too large and difficult. 5. Economical: They should not unnecessary tax the energy and pocket of the students. 6. Rich in experience: Many experience of sociable nature, should be provided in a project. 7. Cooperativeness: The students should be allowed to think and plan independently as well as cooperatively.

Advantages of Project Method 1. It arouses and maintains the interests of students. 2. It gives the student freedom of thought and action. 3. It establishes a definite, tangible, ascertainable goal, thereby assisting the learner by clearly defining what has to be done, what must be known before it can be done, what progress is being made and when it is completed. 4. Each student can work up to capacity by doing more and more difficult projects. 5. This method allows growth through activity on the part of the learner. 6. Each student can compare his/her completed product with accepted standards of accomplishment. 7. This method of instruction is student centered. 8. It develops a spirit of cooperation and community interest.

Disadvantages of Project Method 1. Wrong selection of topics. 2. Over consumption of time. 3. Availability and cost of materials. 4.When individual projects are overemphasized, there may be overdevelopment of individualism and under development of cooperation and group responsibility.
