Ratan Tata– A Born Leader
Introduction Ratan Naval Tata born on December 28,1937, in Bombay He is an Indian industrialist, investor, philanthropist and former chairman of Tata Sons. He was the chairman of Tata Group, a Mumbai-based global business conglomerate from 1991 till 2012.
Early Carrier He schooled in Mumbai and Shimla, at the Cathedral and John Connon School and Bishop Cotton School (Shimla) Mr. Tata received a B. Arch. degree in architecture with structural engineering from Cornell University in 1962. and the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business school in 1975. Joined the Tata Group in December 1962, after turning down a job with IBM on the advice of JRD Tata. He was first sent to Jamshedpur to work at Tata Steel.
Awards & Recognition The Government of India conferred him with the Padma Vibhushan in 2008 and the Padma Bhushan in 2000 The Ohio State University honoured Ratan Tata with the doctorate degree in business administration and an honorary fellowship by the London School of Economics Listed among the 25 most powerful people in business by Fortune magazine in 2007 Listed in the Time magazine’s 2008 list of the World’s most influential people
