Prophet Dawood Prophet of the Israelites
During Prophet Musa's time the 12 tribes of Bani Israel were punished by Allah because of their disobedience. They were doomed to live without a home land, and were roaming the deserts for 40 years. Generations later, Bani Israel asked their Prophet (we don’t know his name) to send them a leader who would lead them into the land of Palestine. They were ready to fight for their homeland and promised they would follow Allah’s commands this time. 2 Before Prophet Dawood 2 Musa Dawood Sulaiman Many Prophets in between
So their Prophet informed them that Allah appointed a man from among them- TALUT- to lead them in a war against the oppressive inhabitants of Palestine. He was strong and intelligent. If they followed this man, they were promised this land would be theirs. As a miracle to Bani Israeel, Tault was given a box that was carried by Angels.. The box had remnants from their Prophets Musa and Harun as a sign for them- A clear proof that they would win their land.
The men of Bani Israel mocked their leader Talut, saying he was not rich enough or popular enough to lead them into victory. When he asked them to march with him to fight for their land as they promised they would, many of them bailed out. Many were cowards and were too scared to stand up to the Philistine army which was led by a giant man named Jalut (Goliath). Unfortunately, BI made fun of Allah’s decision… Talut isn’t from the elite families.. C ouldn’t A llah choose someone better? Side Note: Doubting Allah and His Prophet is a type of Kuffr which comes from arrogance. Who are we to give our opinion over theirs? The one who creates is the one who commands. We’re not going to fight with him. Let’s retreat.
So most of the army fled. Except a few. Prophet Dawood was one of those few . At the time, he was a young teen, but he followed the leader that Allah had sent to them. So Talut went forward with the few men who stuck with him. He said: “Allah is training us! He is testing us with a river. Whoever drinks from it more than a small scoop with their hand, fails and is kicked out of the army” Unfor tunately, most of the soldiers drank from the river and failed the test. The number of fighters was getting smaller and smaller…and the enemy was getting closer and closer.
Allah put them though a test to differentiate the loyal from the dis loyal. What did the RIVER symbolize? The DUNYA… you should take from it just what is necessary, don’t fill yourself with it to the max! This was a lesson in self control.
When the small army arrived at the city limits, some of the soldiers started putting the morale of the army down: We can’t do this. This is Jalut’s army. We’re not prepared for this.. We can’t face them ! How many times has a small group beaten a large group with Allah’s permission? On the other hand, t he few soldiers who believed in Allah’s promise said: This situation was s imilar to the Batlle of Badr… S imilar to Musa and Phirone… A lesson to not give up on Allah.
Talut and Jalut Jalut challenged the army to send a fighter from amongst them to take him on. When nobody came forward, a young 16 year old shepherd boy volunteered. This brave boy was Prophet Dawood !! Everyone started laughing at him and calling him crazy. When the two armies met, the few loyal soldiers (knowing the odds were against them) said: Our Lord, shower us with patience and keep us firm and give us victory. Ha! Ha! You?! Who is brave enough to challenge me?
Prophet Dawood ignored the crowd, and took out his invention- the sling shot! He aimed it and shot a pebble right between Jalut’s eyes. Jalut fell to the ground and his army retreated. Dawood had defeated the giant with his skill and intellect. Allah rewarded Dawood with Kingdom hood and Prophecy… The “Golden Era” of Bani Israel had begun. This was the first time they had a King who was also a Prophet.
Dawood the King Prophet Prophet Dawood was given the power to understand and speak to the animals! Prophet Dawood had an amazing voice, and when he would recite the Zaboor, the Book of Allah, the birds, mountains and other creations would recite with him.
Prophet Dawood became the first man to invent armor for war Prophet Dawood was a very important judge. People travelled the lands to stand before him in his court because of his reputation. One day Allah sent him a test to make sure he would always judge fairly…
One day he was in his quarters and two men jumped over the castle wall and entered his space. This was the defense of ancient castles. This automatically scared him, because usually people who break into your home mean you harm. … They were strangers he’d never seen. D on’t be scared. We are just two people with an argument (case) we want you to hear out and make a judgement for us. Don’t dismiss us, Guide us to the right path.
He has wronged you by asking for your one sheep to add to his. P eople that are close to each other oppress each other often. This is my brother… he owns 99 sheep and I only have one . He told me- just give it to me.. and he’s bullying me to do it..
Suddenly the men disappeared ! Dawood realized they hadn’t been men at all. They were Angels sent to test him and he had failed. He didn’t hear both sides. He passed judgment without hearing out the wealthier brother. He was scared and wasn’t thinking straight. He hadn’t wanted to be seen as someone who sided with the healthy. He made a mistake! LESSON: Just bc most of the time the wealthy are oppressive, it doesn’t mean that’s always the case. Leadership isn’t easy. You have to side with the truth even if you have biases or fears.
