4. FISCAL INDICATORS Source: Punjab State Budget; GSDP: CSO data * Outstanding Liabilities State Finances: A Study of Budgets, RBI. Trend Analysis- The State recorded a growth (constant) rate of 6.8% in 2022-23. Fiscal Deficit of 48.2% is higher than the ceiling prescribed by the 14th Finance Commission (25%) and ranks 2 nd as compared to other states, Arunachal Pradesh being on top.

5. SOCIAL SECTOR EXPENDITURE Trend Analysis- Education expenditure as a proportion of GSDP increased from 2.4% in 2022-23 to 2.4% in 2023-24 (RE). Social Sector expenditure increased to 8.60% of GSDP in 2023-24 (BE). Punjab FM announces Rs 2.04 Lakh Crore Budget for FY 2024-25, as Agriculture contributes 28.94% to the GSDP of Punjab’s economy.

9. NITI FOR STATES- Workshop Series Report back of the workshop duly submitted to the SSM Team, dated, 20 th March 24. A workshop under NITI for States guidelines was organized in collaboration with government officials from Punjab & Haryana, to promote exports from Districts. A stellar array of distinguished speakers, including representatives from state governments, and industry bodies, think tanks, graced each panel discussion
