Assignment Topic: Causes and Effects of Global
Warming

Introduction
❏Global warming refers to the gradual increase in the Earth’s average
temperature due to rising levels of greenhouse gases.

❏It is a major environmental issue that affects weather, wildlife, and human
life.
❏ Global warming happens mainly because of human activities that increase
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Major Cause
❏The burning of fossil fuels — for electricity, transportation, and industries
releases carbon dioxide (CO₂).

❏Deforestation – cutting trees reduces oxygen and increases CO₂.

❏Industrial Emissions – factories release gases like methane and nitrous
oxide.

❏Agriculture – livestock and fertilizers emit methane and other gases.

❏Waste Management – landfills produce methane when waste decomposes.

Effects of Global Warming
❏Rising Sea Levels: Happens when glaciers and polar ice melt.

❏Extreme Weather: Causes more floods, droughts, and heatwaves.

❏Loss of Biodiversity: Many animals and plants lose their homes.

❏Health Problems: Increases heat-related sickness and diseases.

❏Agricultural Impact: Changes in rainfall make it hard to grow crops.

Effects on the Environment
❏Global warming causes many harmful changes in the environment.
The rise in temperature leads to the melting of glaciers and polar ice,
which increases sea levels. It also causes ocean acidification,
making it difficult for marine life to survive. Higher temperatures and
dry conditions result in forest fires and habitat loss for many animals.
In addition, coral reefs get destroyed, affecting the balance of ocean
ecosystems.

How Can We Reduce Global Warming?
1.Use renewable energy (solar, wind).

2.Plant more trees (afforestation).

3.Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

4.Save electricity and use public transport.

5.Avoid plastic and waste burning.
6.Support eco-friendly products and companies.

7.Collect and reuse rainwater to save water.

8.Spread awareness about protecting the environment.

9.Avoid wasting food and water.

10.Participate in tree plantation and cleanup drives.

How Can We Reduce Global Warming?
❏To reduce global warming, we need to adopt eco-friendly habits in our daily
lives. We should use renewable energy sources like solar and wind instead of
coal or petrol, as they do not release harmful gases. Planting more trees
helps absorb carbon dioxide and keeps the air clean. By following the rule of
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, we can cut down on waste and save natural
resources. It is also important to save electricity and use public transport to
reduce pollution caused by vehicles. Lastly, we should avoid using plastic and
stop burning waste, as these actions release toxic gases and harm the
environment.
