PROGRAM OVERVIEW Grant Writing Students must demonstrate familiarity with the grant writing process by writing a full-length sample grant proposal and submitting it to their faculty mentor. A written copy must be submitted to the Academic Affairs Office for inclusion in the candidate’s RDT application file. Official submission of the grant proposal is optional and dependent on the faculty mentor’s preference. IRB Certification Students must complete the online IRB training modules to certify familiarity with the ethical guidelines mandated for clinical research. Certificates of completion must be printed and submitted to the Academic Affairs Office for inclusion in the candidate’s RDT application file. Nomination Letter: Faculty mentors must write a nomination letter for RDT candidates certifying their completion of program requirements and submit the letter to the Academic Affairs Office by July 30 th of the RDT candidate’s MS4 year. Research Distinction Award: The Academic Affairs Office will be responsible for reading the faculty nomination letters and verifying proof of an original manuscript and associated submission are on file. Following verification of program requirement fulfillments, the Student Affairs Office and RDT candidates will be notified of successful completion of the program by September 30 th of their MS4 year.
