AS PER Vedic Astrology, Sun is the father of Saturn. In spite of being the son and father, they
are not only opposite to each other in attributes, but are sworn enemies as well. Sun would utilize
every opportunity to attack his child, while the latter would leave no chance to destroy the
former.
Although one school of thought in Vedic Astrology believes that Sun & Saturn together in the
same house of a horoscope creates a Raj Yoga, but in our opinion it is not at all good. There are
indeed some benefits of this combination in spite of their intense bitterness, but its negative
influence far outweighs the gains received.
WHAT SUN DENOTES
SUN BRINGS power, fame, popularity – the reason being, Sun is the most powerful planet in
the solar system. Imagine a day without Sun, or if there is a day when there is no sunrise.
Everything is dark all around. Compare this with a day of bright sunshine. There is vitality,
excitement and enthusiasm everywhere – people are all out for work with a hopeful purpose –
the underlying mood is one of jubilant accomplishment. Thus Sun holds maximum power not
only in the solar system but also on horoscopes.
One would notice, Sun is at the centre, and all planets revolve around it. Thus it is a force of
attraction as well. Moreover, all planets look at Sun to move around in its orbit. This gives Sun
the popularity, which no other planets enjoy. Thus a strong and well placed Sun brings
popularity and fame. However, if malefically placed it can bring about insult, loss of status, false
accusations, wrongfully blamed and a high degree of unpopularity as well, although the
individual may be very much genuine with good intentions.
WHAT SATURN DENOTES
IN CONTRAST, Saturn is the farthest of 9 planets in astrology (including lunar nodes – Rahu &
Ketu). Therefore, this feared planet in Astrology is lonely in nature, which stays faraway.
Similarly, people with strong influence of Saturn in their horscopes live a lonely and secluded
life – they have few friends and prefer to stay confined to themselves without much of
socializing. Thus Saturnians, hardly find popularity or fame – in fact, they always follow the
right path, yet all the blame goes on them. With social injustice that they have to bear, it is quite
natural for Saturnians to have a strong grudge against society. But mind it – Saturn is the planet
of right and wrong. Or in other words, planet of justice – so people who harm or deceive them,
would have to face severe punishment in the hands of Saturn.

2. Being the slowest moving planet, Saturnians are generally slow in nature. But they are also
highly responsible and dedicated with great levels of commitment. So they are highly
trustworthy as well. Also, contrary to popular perceptions, Saturn can give immense power and
wealth, if strong and well placed.
OPPOSITE NATURE
THEIR DIAGONALLY opposite nature and attributes are revealed from the simple fact that
the sign where Sun exalts (Aries) is where Saturn debilitates, whereas the house where Saturn
exalts (Libra), Sun debilitates.
