Background A urinary tract infection ( UTI ) is an infection that affects a part of the urinary tract. Lower urinary tract infections may involve the bladder (cystitis) or urethra (urethritis) while upper urinary tract infections affect the kidney (pyelonephritis ). From 1990 to 2021, the number of UTI cases increased by 66.45%, reaching 4.49 billion cases. The greatest incidence of UTIs was seen in women and older adult men. - National Library of Medicine
Background A total of 1987 cases were sent for urine culture and sensitivity test. The total culture-positive cases were 404 (20.3 %). Background A needle stick injury (NSI), or sharps injury, is a skin-penetrating injury caused by a needle or other sharp medical instrument that has been in contact with another person's blood, tissue, or bodily fluid. These injuries are a significant occupational hazard, particularly for healthcare workers, due to the potential risk of transmitting blood borne pathogens like HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C.
Background The incidence of NSIs was 43%. Africa had the highest rate of these injuries of 51%, and the World Health Organization (WHO) African Region had the highest incidence among WHO regions of 52%. Women were more frequently affected by NSIs than men. Hepatitis C virus infection was the disease most commonly transmitted via NSIs (21%). -WHO
