4. INTRODUCTION
Anantya's design is inspired by Laurie Baker and Geoffrey Bawa's ideals ofminimalism, eco
friendliness and trueness of materials. The resort has beendesigned to leave a minimal eco
footprint, using reconditioned tiles andstone pillars, locally procured rubble and brick, sewage
treatment and watersaving, contour constructions and many other techniques.Anantya features

•Named after the Two Sadhanas —The highest category of Villas the
Sadhanaare the ultimate in Luxury and closeness with nature—

gated off from the outside world in order to

guests. This is not ideal for myscheme es the
project attempts to connect the guests to the
localcommunity.

centralcourtyards, the Ettukettu bespeaks of the grandeur of yesteryear
Kerala'sregal architecture. Commissioned by the King Marthanda Varma
as a gift tohis favored martial arts tutor, Edamame KellamthatGurukul,
the mansionwas built with all the magnificence of the homes of the
nobility of thosedays. The Ettukettu had been dismantled from its
original location andrelocated in all its glory at Kumarakom Lake Resort,
