Rev. Fr. George Kofi Ayesu was born on 19th December 1952 to Mr. Yaw Oppong (deceased) an army veteran and a cocoa farmer from Sankore and Madam Comfort Abena Asamaniwa (also of blessed memory) a farmer and a princess to the Anum Traditional Paramountcy. He attended Anum Anglican School for his elementary education and was well known among teachers and colleagues for his academic excellence. It is said that due to his remarkable performance, he was sought after whenever he was absent from school. He was affectionately called ‘Bright’, a name he did not hesitate to include in his identity at every opportunity. He spent his childhood through to young adulthood in Anum, Ofoase.
