Introduction Inclusive education is about meeting the learning needs of all students in the best possible way. Teacher in inclusive classrooms is expected to welcome all children, without any discrimination by making necessary accommodations and arrangements for their education in the same school or classes along with the non-disabled peers.
Role & Responsibility of Teacher in Inclusive Education Helping the child to grow his/her potentiality to the maximum
Using specialized equipment's such as computers, interactive educational software programs, and audiotapes to assist children
Prepare maximum number of activities to involve the entire class
Ensuring progress by continuous assessment
Working closely with parents to inform of their child’s progress and suggest techniques to promote learning at home
Preparing non-disabled students to welcome and co-operate disabled students in classrooms
Encouraging cordial relations between non-disabled and disabled students
Collaborating with parents by involving them in the educational process of the child
Maintaining contacts and linkages with other professionals working for the welfare of disabled students
Providing broader scope to the disabled to live in a social world
Designing alternative teaching strategies
Some other roles & responsibilities of teacher in inclusive education: Alerting the children to be independent in their daily life. Fostering positive attitude among students . Determining student’s strengths and weaknesses . Determining goals for each student that is appropriate and realistic. To help and work for creating a cooperative and collaborative environment of group learning for the learners of inclusive classes helping each other in their own way for the growth and development of all.
Some other roles & responsibilities of teacher in inclusive education: Designing appropriate curricula, assigning work at class and home as per student’s needs and abilities, grading papers etc. Providing students career- counselling or help them to learn routine skills . Developing self-confidence and encouraging them to meet the challenges of life.
