CENTRAL BOARD FOR WORKERS EDUCATION The Central Board for Workers Education (CBWE) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Started in 1958, the Workers Education Scheme in India has been playing a very significant role in our national development; creating an enlightened and disciplined work force and bringing about desirable behavioural changes in our workforce in the organized, unorganized and rural sectors. It gets grants-in-aid from the Ministry of Labour & Employment to operate its activities. The Scheme of Workers Education aims at achieving the objectives of creating and increasing awareness and educating the workforce for their effective participation in the socio-economic development of the country .
ROLE’S The role of the central board of workers education is to provide training, education, etc, to the workers. To perform this responsibility an institution was formed as followed: The Indian Institute of Workers Education was established in March 1970 by the Central Board for Workers Education. It is the for Workers apex training institute on with fully equipped training facilities and modern amenities viz. It have facility like Modern Training Hall of International standard, Conference Hall Auditorium, Hostel, Canteen etc. The Board had conducted programs as such : National level training programmes. To develop stronger and more responsible trade unions.
Specialized schemes for training and Education to labour and Management are designed. To equip organized labour to take its place in a democratic society and to inculcate in them the spirit of commonality of interests. To promote the growth of democratic process in trade union organization and administration. Demonstration and Information centre. Function as an Interdisciplinary training centre. It further draws upon the experiences of foreign countries in implementation of workers education programmes and adapts them to fit in the Indian environment. In addition to this it also conduct pre-employment course for Education Officers and refresher. Special courses for Regional Directors, Education Officers and staff from time to time.
NATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY COUNCIL: “ NPC is a national level organization under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, providing training, consultancy and undertaking research in the area of productivity. It also promotes enhancement of productivity culture in the Nation. NPC also implements the productivity promotion plans and programmes of the Tokyo based Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), an inter-governmental body of which the Government of India is a founder member. ”

TRAINING INSTITUTIONS: NPC has its own training establishment in Chennai (erstwhile Madras) called Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Productivity (AIP). It trains consultants for absorption in NPC and also for industry on a sponsored or self-financing basis. Ambedkar Institute of Productivity (AIP) NPC’s Supervisory Development, also located in Chennai, offers National Certificate in Supervision (NCS) through distance learning programme. NPC’s Chennai, offers BEE's National Certification Examination for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors.
