The Role of Education in Developing Indian Society and Solving the Obstacles in it: Education of deprived sections, increasing urbanization, poverty, illiteracy, corruption and apathy towards right to education. Our country has a rich tradition of culture. Society has played a major role in nurturing our culture. In our society, there are many powers such as social, religious, political, linguistic and regional, who work towards the objective of nurturing culture. The role of teachers and education is also equally important in this process . While achieving transformation and development, the education process has a role to overcome the obstacles such as unemployment, poverty, corruption, illiteracy, etc. For social transformation, education acts as supplementary power. In this context, the International Commission in 1972 has put forth the following development programmed for education. Education should have its own identity. It should not be considered as a passive institution. It is an important factor in giving a proper shape to the future. The function of education is to prepare people for transformation and make people accept the changes. Indian Education Commission has reported in their report of 1964-66 that education is a weapon for social transformation . For every programme of social and economic welfare, education is an important necessary element if the social transformation is to be brought without violent revolution.

In this report of this commission, the following objectives have been stated for educational development: 1 . Development of education should increase the production . 2 . It should achieve social and national integration . 3 . There should be powerful democracy . 4 . The process of modernization should be quicker . 5 . Social, moral and spiritual values should be nurtured.

1. Educational Development : In formal and informal education , attention should be paid to the physical and mental changes in a person. Behavior, thinking and culture can be joined together by giving proper knowledge. In various age groups , we find that children are curious and have many ideas. Scope should be given to develop these attributes. Accordingly, the educational programmes should be designed and implemented . Instead of usual methods, it is important to pay more attention to create thinking of students . 2 . Gender equality : In a male dominated culture, the women are considered as subordinate to men. Training should be essentially given to consider female as a human being . Therefore , education should be given to accept gender equality. 3. Family life - Education: The characteristics of healthy family is that members in such family respect each other and the decisions are taken with participation of every member. Pre marriage counselling should be also included in education. All boys and girls should have equal rights to choose their partners . They should also be educated in the objectives of marriage and its social aspects.

4. Personal hygiene and cleanliness : Unclean environment gives rise to various diseases. Along with physical cleanliness , social cleanliness is very important. Through education , awareness should be created to keep road, drainage, and bunds clean . 5. Quality of life and social welfare : Family comforts are endangered due to ignorance, poverty, disability, addiction , etc . We find many weaker sections in society. Through education , these weaker sections can be brought into the mainstream of the society.

Opinion Education is a very important factor in  the economic development  of any country. India since the early days of independence has always focused on improving the literacy rate in our country. Even today the government runs many programs to promote Primary and Higher Education in India.

T he   Indian education system must change for the better . It must give the students equal opportunities to shine better in the future. We need to let go of the old and traditional ways and enhance the teaching standards so our youth can get create a better world. Conclusion
