Primary health care fundamental approach to healthcare that aims to provide comprehensive, accessible, and community-based services to ensure the well-being of pregnant women and mothers.

Equity for women Equity for women in safe motherhood refers to ensuring that all women, regardless of their social, economic, cultural, or geographic backgrounds, have equal access to high-quality maternal healthcare services and experience equitable health outcomes during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period

1.Equal Access to Healthcare Services: All women should have equal access to essential maternal healthcare services, including antenatal care, skilled birth attendance, emergency obstetric care, and postpartum care. Geographic, financial, and cultural barriers should be minimized to ensure that women can access healthcare facilities and providers without discrimination or hindrance

2.Cultural Competence: Healthcare providers should be culturally sensitive and respectful of women's beliefs, values, and traditions during pregnancy and childbirth. Women should receive care that aligns with their cultural preferences and practices, where possible

3.Economic Accessibility: Maternal healthcare services should be affordable, and financial barriers should not prevent women from seeking care. Policies and programs should aim to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket expenses related to maternal healthcare.

4.Elimination of Discrimination: Discrimination based on factors such as race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, age, or disability should be actively addressed and eliminated within the healthcare system. Women should not be subjected to discriminatory practices that affect their access to quality care

Achieving equity in maternal health is essential for reducing maternal mortality, improving maternal and child health, and advancing overall gender equality and social justice
