SYLLABUS IN SCIENCE 10
S. Y. 2023-2024
Prepared by: Mss. Nida G. Aguinid
I. RATIONALE
Science Education aims to develop scientific literacy among learners that will prepare them to be informed and participative citizens who are able to make judgments and
decisions regarding applicants of scientific knowledge that may have social, health or environmental impacts.
The Science curriculum recognizes the place of science and technology in everyday human affairs. It integrates science and technology in the social, economic, personal,
and ethical aspects of life. The science curriculum promotes a strong link between science and technology, including indigenous technology, thus preserving our country’s cultural
heritage.
II. LEARNING OUTCOMES
The learners should demonstrate an understanding of the concepts to the real-world scenarios that will help you explain and communicate different geological phenomena
such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions
III. CORE LEARNING AREA STANDARDS
The learners demonstrate understanding of. the plate tectonics theory, the plate boundaries, and the processes and landforms along plate boundaries.
IV. KEY STAGE STANDARDS
At the end, the learners should have developed the different types of plate boundaries and explain the different processes along the plate boundaries.
V. GRADE LEVEL STANDARDS
At the end of Grade 10, learners should be able to This unit will emphasize the concepts and principles behind Earth’s lithosphere and its formation through plate
movement. The different geologic processes that shape its lithosphere will also be covered.
Learners can describe the how does the plate tectonics theory explain the occurrence of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
VI. GENERAL OBJECTIVES
A.Cognitive: Learners describe the importance of plate boundaries in the formation of volcanoes and mountain ranges, as well as in describing geologic activities
B.Affective: The learner shall be able to apply real life situations to simulate the processes of earthquake, volcanic eruption, and mountain building using available
technology (e.g., videos and animation)
C.Psychomotor: The learners can demonstrate various measures that show what to do before, during, and after an earthquake and/or a volcanic eruption
VII. MAIN PROGRAM
A.Classroom activities
-discussion
-oral recitation
-groupings
B.Schools practices
-quizzes
-unit test
-quarterly examination
VIII. COURSE CONTENT
FIRST QUARTER
Content Standards: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the relationship among the locations of volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and mountain
ranges
Performance Standards: The learners shall be able to perform in groups to demonstrate ways to ensure disaster preparedness during earthquakes, tsunamis,
and volcanic eruptions 2. suggest ways by which he/she can contribute to government efforts in reducing damage due to earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions
