Newton’s Law of Motion: Law of Inertia and Law of Acceleration Quarter 1, Week 1 8th Grade

Investigate the relationship between the amount of force applied and the mass of the object to the amount of change in the object’s motion . (S8FE-Ia-15-Q1) Learning Competency

REVIEW from PREVIOUS GRADE :) Identify the direction of the following object that are in MOTION.

What is the direction of the moving object? 5N 5N

In this scenario is their a FORCE applied? PUSH (moving away)

FORCE with SAME direction 5N 5N ADD 5N + 5N = 10N

What is the direction of the moving object? 5N 10N

In this scenario is their a FORCE applied? 5N 10N PULL (toward’s you)

FORCE with DIFFERENT direction 10 N 5 N SUBTRACT 10 N - 5N = 5N

c an cause FORCE We can say that MOTION

can cause FORCE Does apply MOTION i n all objects?

(Subtract) 5N 5N Dif ferent Direction 5 N - 5N = 0 BALANCE

(Subtract) 5N 10 N Different Direction 10 N - 5N = 10N UN BALANCE

LAW OF Newton’s MOTION LAW OF INERTIA

Law of INERTIA States that: body will remain at rest or move at a constant velocity unless acted upon by an external or unbalanced force.

LAW OF Newton’s MOTION LAW OF ACCELERATION

Law of ACCELERATION States that: the Acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass.

Sample Problem: Suppose a ball of mass 0.60kg is hit with a force of 12N, its acceleration will be? (kg.m/s 2 )

Sample Problem: Suppose a ball of mass 0.60kg is hit with a force of 12N , its acceleration will be? What is asked? What is given? What is the formula? Solution:

Sample Problem: Suppose a ball of mass 0.60kg is hit with a force of 12N , its acceleration will be? What is asked? Acceleration (a)

Sample Problem: Suppose a ball of mass 0.60kg is hit with a force of 12N, its acceleration will be? What is given? m (Mass) = 0.60 kg F (Force) = 12 N

Sample Problem: Suppose a ball of mass 0.60kg is hit with a force of 12N, its acceleration will be? What is the formula? a = F m

Sample Problem: Suppose a ball of mass 0.60kg is hit with a force of 12N, its acceleration will be? Solution: a=F/m a=12N/0.60Kg a=12 kg.m/s 2 / 0.60kg a=20m/s2

QUESTIONS? CLARIFICATION?

2 . Water Cycle 1. Match the words with the corresponding states of matter: Liquid Solid Gaseous Clouds Sea Ice

2 . Water Cycle 2 . Complete the following sentences: The Sun warms the sea, producing small water drops that rise to form _____. When they are heavy, the _____ fall producing the rain. Rainwater falls to land and _____ , producing the water cycle.
