PASCHAL
-The word “Paschal” comes
from the Greek word
“pascha,” which is derived
from the Hebrew word
“pesah” or “pesach.”

PASCHAL
“Pesah” means “Passover” in
Hebrew, referring to the Jewish
feast commemorating the
liberation of the Israelites from
slavery in Egypt, as described in
the book of Exodus in the Bible.

The Passover feast was a significant event
in Jewish history, marking the release of
the Israelites from slavery and the
beginning of a new chapter in their journey
toward the Promised Land. In Christian
doctrine, “Paschal” is used to refer to the
events of Jesus Christ’s passion, death,
resurrection, and ascension, which
occurred during the time of the Jewish
Passover feast.

MYSTERY
The word “Mystery” comes from
the Greek word “mysterion,”
which refers to something
hidden or beyond human
understanding.

MYSTERY
In the context of Christian
doctrine, a “mystery” does not
denote something secret or
unknowable but rather a deep
truth revealed by God.

PASCHAL MYSTERY
Involves the deep truth of Jesus
Christ’s redemptive work,
including his sacrificial death,
victorious resurrection, and
exaltation to glory.
