Title: Student’s Tardiness What makes this title broad?
Why do researchers need to define the scope of their study? What are the possible risks of not setting boundaries?
Scope and Delimitation The SCOPE of study is a section of a research paper that explains what information or subject is being analyzed. For example, the scope of a historical research paper includes a scope section that explains what time period the writer is analyzing. Since it is impossible to study every aspect of every subject, the scope of study tells the reader which aspects of a subject the writer has chosen to analyze. Most research is limited in scope by sample size, time and geographic area. The scope of study is usually followed by an explanation of the limitations of the research.
Scope and Delimitation The DELIMITATION of study is the explanation of the scope of study. This section allows the writer to explain why certain aspects of a subject were chosen and why others were excluded. It is also common for a writer to explain the chosen research method in this section and explain why certain theories were applied to the data.
What is the meaning of scope and delimitation of the study?
Scope and Delimitation 1. extent of the study. 2. The information included in the title of the study. 3. population responds. 4. Variables or factors involved and lastly; 5. Period covered by the study.
In Scope It is important to narrow down your thesis topic and limit the scope of your study. The researcher should inform the reader about limits or coverage of the study. The scope identifies the boundaries of the study in term of subjects, objectives, facilities, area, time frame, and the issues to which the research is focused.
Sample phrases that help express the scope of the study: 1.The coverage of this study.... 2.The study consists of.... 3.The study covers the ………. 4.This study is focus on……..
In Delimitation The delimitation of the study is delimiting a study by geographic location, age, sex, population traits, population size, or other similar considerations. Delimitation is used to make study better and more feasible and not just for the interest of the researcher. It also identifies the constraints or weaknesses of your study which are not within the control of the researcher.
Sample phrases that expressed the delimitation of the study: 1.The study does not cover the…… 2.The researcher limited this research to…… 3.This study is limited to………
This study focuses on examining the causes and effects of teenage pregnancy among senior high school students in Barangay San Isidro, Quezon City during the school year 2025–2026 . The primary aim is to identify the common contributing factors such as family background, peer influence, social media exposure, and lack of sex education, as well as the social, academic, and emotional impacts on the affected students. The scope of this study is limited to female students aged 13 to 19 who have experienced or are currently experiencing pregnancy. It does not include teenage males or individuals beyond the stated age range. The data will be collected through surveys, interviews , and focus group discussions . The delimitation of the study includes the exclusion of out-of-school youth and teenagers from other barangays or cities , as the focus is only on those currently enrolled in school within Barangay San Isidro. Additionally, the study will not explore medical or clinical aspects of pregnancy (e.g., prenatal care, childbirth), as it is primarily focused on the social and behavioral factors and consequences.

Scope: This study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of organic fertilizers compared to synthetic fertilizers on the growth and yield of tomato plants in a school-based garden. The research was conducted over a period of eight weeks during the dry season at [Name of School], under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) strand specializing in Agricultural Crop Production. The parameters measured include: Plant height (cm) Number of leaves Time of flowering Number and weight of fruits harvested The study involved two groups: one treated with organic fertilizer (e.g., compost or vermicast ) and the other with synthetic fertilizer (e.g., urea or complete fertilizer), using five plant replicates per group.
This research is limited to: Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum ) as the test crop. A single planting season and weather condition (dry season). Fertilizer types used: locally available compost/ vermicast and urea-based synthetic fertilizer. Soil type available in the school garden. A small-scale garden setting and not large-scale farm production.
DELIMITATION The study does not cover: Long-term effects of fertilizers on soil health. Economic analysis or cost-benefit ratio of fertilizer use. Pest and disease management practices. Effects of other agricultural inputs like pesticides or irrigation variations.
