Definition of Genus A principal taxonomic category that ranks above species and below family. Generally it is denoted by a capitalized Latin name. In binomial nomenclature, the genus name forms the first part of the binomial species name for each species within the genus.

Characteristics of genus Morus Over 150 species names have been published. Mostly trees or shrubs. Tap root system with branched roots.

Stem is branched, cylindrical, solid. Alternate leaves with entire toothed or three lobed.

The trees can be monoecious or dioecious. The flowers are ebracteate, sessile, actinomorphic. Tepals are 4 ( In 2 whorls of 2 each ). Sorosis type of fruits.
