Northeastern or the seven sister States Extreme east of Himalayas there are seven States. Arunachal Pradesh Assam Meghalaya Nagaland Manipur Tripura and Mizoram These states of India together called the seven sisters States or North Eastern states.

Arunachal Pradesh Itanagar is the capital. Population Is very small. Experiences severe rainfallm

The river Brahmaputra enters India through Arunachal Pradesh. Most of the houses built on stilts.

ASSAM Dispur is the capital. Biggest state in the North Eastern region.

Large area of Assam comes under tea plantation and thousands of people working. Bamboo and silks are the main products of Assam.

Bihu is the main festival.

Meghalaya Shillong is the capital. Shillong hill station. 30% of the state is covered with forest.

Recieves heaviest rainfall of the country. Khasi Garo and Jaintia are the tribes living here.

Nagaland Kohima is the capital. Most of the people are farmers. Fishing and farming are the main occupation.

Home of tribe Nagas. People wear colourful shawl, decorated with beads, horns, shells, bones and ivories.

Manipur Imphal is the capital. Densely covered with forest of bamboo and teak.

Rice, wheat, cotton, sugarcane etc are the main crops cultivated here. Manipuri is the major dance form in Manipur.

Mizoram Aizwal is the capital. Southern most state of seven sister states.

People speaks Mizo language. Rice, maize, mustard and cotton are the main crops grown here.

Tripura Agartala is the capital. People mainly speaks Bengali and kokborok. People make beautiful handicraft products using bamboo and cane.
