Full Name:National Commission for Indian System of Medicine
Established:2020 (replacing the Central Council of Indian Medicine –CCIM)
Headquarters:DhanwantariBhawan, Punjabi Bagh (West), New Delhi
Objectives of NCISM:
To regulate education and professional practice of Indian Medicine (Ayurveda,
Siddha, Unani, Sowa-Rigpa).
To maintain uniform standards of education across all ISM institutions.
To promote evidence-based integration of traditional systems with modern
healthcare.
To ensure competency- based, patient-oriented training in AYUSH streams.

Introduction to Shishiksha
“Shishiksha”is an Internship Orientation Programme initiated by
NCISM.
It is meant for BAMS studentswho have completed academic studies and
are beginning their internship phase.
The programme is designed to bridge the gapbetween theoretical
knowledge and clinical practice.
It reflects the theme —
“Bench to Bedside: From Learning to Healing.”

Rationale Behind the Programme
Many students enter internship without clear understanding of:
Clinical workflow and documentation.
Patient interaction and ethical issues.
Hospital dutiesand responsibilities.
Hence, NCISM introduced Shishikshato:
Prepare interns mentally and professionally.
Introduce ethical, clinical, and communication standards.
Create a uniform national orientation modulefor all BAMS colleges
