MURDER OF SKYLAR
NEESE

Murder of Skylar Neese
Newsworthy events
Neese was murdered by two of her high school best friends,
Shelia Eddy and Rachel Shoaf. In December 2012, Shoaf confessed
to authorities that she and Eddy planned and carried out Neese's
murder.

Background
Skylar Neese is a bright student who loves reading and learning new things. At the age of
16, she can be said to be very independent because she already works part time at a fast
food restaurant.

Skylar, Sheila, and Rachel have a very close friendship and often spend time
together. Skylar has known Sheila since they were 8 years old, until they finally
met Rachel while attending University High School north of Morgantown, West
Virginia. The friendship between the three of them grew closer as time went by.
Skylar often cheers up her two friends because Sheila and Rachel's parents have
long been divorced. Skylar was an only child who was really cared for by her
parents. She often brought her two best friends home to play until her mother
and father considered Sheila and Rachel like their own children. Even though they
look so close, there are still differences of opinion between them which often
lead to disputes.

The incident occurred around July 2012. It started with their feud on Twitter social
media. At that time, Skylar, who was feuding with Rachel and Sheila, often made
sarcasm on Twitter. Not wanting to be outdone, her two friends also responded to
Skylar's sarcasm. This is what proves that there is a rift in the relationship
between the three of them. Until finally on July 6 2012, Skylar was reported to
have disappeared from her house. Skylar's parents believed that it was impossible
for their child to run away from home because his belongings were still in the
room.
The disappearance of Skylar
Neese

After looking at the CCTV footage, they found that Skylar was seen
leaving the house secretly in the middle of the night and then left
with Sheila and Rachel. After asking the two of them about this,
Sheila and Rachel admitted that the three of them had just been
walking around the Star City area last night, and when they
intended to take her home, Skylar instead asked them to drop her
off at the side of the road because she had important business.
Their statements did not make Skylar's parents suspicious at all
because they really trusted their child's two friends.

Arrest and Confession
After carrying out several investigations but to no avail, the police finally suspected that Sheila
and Rachel were also involved in Skylar's disappearance. Until finally, on December 28 2012,
Rachel, who was haunted by guilt, suddenly became depressed and went on a rampage like
crazy at home. This made her parents call 911 and ended up with Rachel being taken into
custody by local police. When arrested, Rachel finally confessed and told the chronology of
Skylar's murder which she and Sheila had committed.
That night, the two of them invited Skylar to meet to apologize and repair their relationship.
They picked up Skylar at her house using Sheila's car.

After traveling around the City Star area, the two of them took Skylar into
the forest on the grounds that they were going to hold a heroin party there.
However, when they arrived in the forest, the two of them stabbed Skylar
repeatedly until she died on the spot. After Rachel's confession, the police
finally arrested Sheila and detained both of them.
In 2013, the police finally managed to find Skylar's body buried in the
forest. This ultimately led the court to indict Sheila and Rachel on suspicion
of 1st degree premeditated murder and sentence them to life in prison
with the possibility of parole after 15 years. When asked why they killed
their friend, both of them simply answered "Because we didn't likeher".
