3. Birth and family: Ben Venuta Maria Troncatti was born on February 16, 1883, in Corteno Golgi, Italy, she was the second of 14 children in a family of devout and hard-working farmers.

4. Maria Troncatti (1883–1969) was an Italian Salesian Sister who served as a nurse, evangelist, and "artisan of peace" among the Shuar people in the Amazonian jungle of Ecuador . Known affectionately as Madrecita (little mother), she dedicated over 40 years of her life to the mission and is slated for canonization by the Catholic Church.
