How do we teach kids to write stories?
Last year, I went to visit my Grandparents during my summer vacation. I enjoyed a lot. I played with my cousins. My grandmother made my favorite dishes like chhole puri , pav bhaaji , biryani, rasmalai and many more. One day, we saw a mysterious lady walking at night. We went to investigate. She ran away when we went near her. The villagers told us that she was a lunatic. So, we called my father’s friend at the mental asylum in the city and he took her away for treatment. All the villagers thanked us. My grandparents were also proud of us. It was the best summer vacation.

Flesh Out a Sentence!!! I went out for lunch with my family. My family and I were about to leave the mall when we looked up at the Dominos sign and thought pizza sounded like a fantastic lunch. ‘ Wanna have pizza?’ mom asked. We all shouted, ‘Yes!’ and ran inside.

Have you ever had a day when you wished you had stayed in bed? As I rushed to catch the bus on what seemed to be a perfectly normal day, I had no idea what lay ahead of me . What would you do if you saw a shadow near your window? Yell? No, not at all! My shrieks were frozen in my throat . Write one yourself. Question
" Bzzzzzzzzz !" The sound of the alarm clock droned in the room. I struggled to wake up. With a start, I sat straight up in my bed. This was my big day and I had to be on time . Ding-dong! Ding-dong! The doorbell rang impatiently. I got up with a humph to open the door . Write one yourself. Onomatopoeia
" Hurry or you'll be late!", called mom from the bottom of the stairs . " Today of all the days, you want to be on time, don't you?" If only I had known what the day would bring, I would have stayed in bed . "Come on, you can do it, Sandy!", my teacher was saying with a faith I had never heard in his voice . Write one yourself. Dialogue
The sun was warm on my back as I raced towards the waiting school bus. The worn leather seat greeted me. Friendly voices hummed all around. With a jerk, the bus rumbled down the road . The road was desolate and long shadows covered most of the road that lay like a snake under the bushes. The crickets chirped away in a melancholy mood to make the night more grim than ever . Write one yourself. Setting
Shock has been known to kill even fourteen year olds. It can cause their brains to explode and hearts to stop dead still. These things raced through my mind as I stood dumbfounded . It is well known that not all snakes are poisonous, but water snakes can really scare any one with their stealthy, slithery swim towards you . Write one yourself. Fact
Eggs , milk, sugar, flour......... I was ready for my baking day with grandma . Dog, cat, fish, tortoise......... I couldn't decide what would my next pet be . Write one yourself. List
Please mom! Please mom! Please mom! I kept pleading but my entreaties fell on deaf ears . Blah! Blah! Blah! Bobby kept ranting but Shane was in no mood to listen . Write one yourself. Repetition
Watermelon vs Seed Strategy
Watermelon vs Seed Strategy Big Topic: A Watermelon Story Smaller Topic: A Watermelon Slice Story Small Moments: Seed Story I went to School. I went to School and learned about watermelon and seed strategy. I went to School and learned something new in writing. I learned about seed ideas and now I can write a focused small moment story
This is an example of a watermelon story : Last summer I went to Disneyland. We flew on a big plane to California. I rode lots of different rides. We ate lunch at the Cinderella Restaurant. We rode more rides. Then, we went to the hotel. We were tired!
This is an example of a seed story: One bright sunny day at Disneyland, I rode the Matterhorn ride. First, I was buckled into the seat with a safety belt. Next, the lights went out! I was scared! Then, the sled began to move very slowly. The ride picked up speed and we zoomed around quickly many times. Finally, we saw some light and raced around another curve and to the end. I saw my mom waiting for me and I said, “This was my favorite ride at Disneyland! May I ride it again?”

Watermelon My Vacation
Slice Going to my granny’s village last summer was a memorable experience.
Seeds My cousin and I chased the buffalo in the fields. The cool water in the river froze me, though it was summer. We went to the well to draw the water and dropped the bucket and the rope in it accidently. We threw a rope on the tree branch to make a swing. Running in the fields the whole day in our knickers gave us rashes on the legs.
