This Surah describes some of the events that will happen on the Day of Judgment, namely the Earth shaking and speaking as a witness for or against humankind.

2. Surah Theme Events that will happen on the Day of Judgment . Reason for Revelation The disbelievers of Quraysh denied the Day of Judgment.

3. 3 2 Even if there is a Day of Judgment, w e have been worshipping idols and they will make a case for us. They will carry our sins for us. 1 The Disbelievers Had 3 Main Arguments about the Day of Judgment : How can the sky collapse? How can these stable mountains ever fall apart? How can this E arth go away? How can there be a record of every single thing that happens on earth ? You want us to believe that every crime, every word, every breath is recorded?

4. When the Earth will be shaken its shake “Its shake” infers that: 1. T his will not be an earthquake we can compare to any that has ever happened before . It’s unimaginable. 2. It’s a promised quake-a promise from Allah.

5. And the Earth will pull out its burdens Everything and everyone that ever existed on Earth will come out of it! Everything we had buried will be ejected! All the treasures people used to care about will come out- everything we used to fight over- gold, diamonds, precious metals, oil... But on this day, n obody will care. On this day, w e will realize we were running after the wrong things all along.

6. And the human will say: “ What is wrong with her?” Even those who know this is going to happen, will still be shocked! We will forget that we knew this before.

7. On that day it will inform all its news The Earth will be a witness against us for the sins we committed on its back and witness for us for the good deeds we did on its back. On that day, things that never used to speak will speak, like our body parts. On that day, everything will be different than what we know today.

8. That your Lord gave it permission to do so. Note that Allah did not say he gave Earth an ORDER to witness. Allah said he gave the Earth PERMISSION . This means that the Earth WANTS to speak up, but Allah had not allowed it until that day. For years, the Earth has been holding its burden patiently until given permission to release it!

9. The day when people will be turned away, spreading into groups.. ..so they can be shown their deeds . On Earth/Life On the Day of Judgment Time to do deeds Time to be shown deeds Go into our graves alone Come out of our graves and grouped with people We can speak for ourselves The Earth will speak for us. Our limbs will speak against us.

10. Whoever does a good action the weight of an atom will see it We will be shocked that Allah counted such a tiny deed-one that we never really thought about. It was the size of a speck of dust, weighed almost nothing, but Allah wrote it down and will reward us for it. Allah even rewards us for our intentions . This is something that people in this World will never do for us. Nobody would reward you because you thought about doing your Homework or thought about cleaning your room. People want to see results.

11. 1 st Example: A businessman who didn’t work too hard, helped his company make $1,000,000,000 in sales. He got a promotion from his boss. A businessman worked really hard, but was only able to help his company make $1000 . He was not given a promotion from his boss. That’s the way this World works. People look at results . 2 nd Example : A man who donated $1,000 but did it to show off , did not get any reward from Allah. A man who donated only $100 with good intentions received a large reward from Allah. Allah’s scale is different than our scale .

12. Whoever does a bad action the weight of an atom will see it Allah will not reward or punish anyone until they know exactly what they did. This is out of his justice .
