Step 4: Test students (English/Hindi
teachers)

Protocols for conducting the test (Aug. 20 - Sept. 10)
Protocols for logging in and conducting the test using TARA (Instructions Document link or Video link (English &
Hindi))
1)Instruct all the students together in the classroom about the activity (not a test) that they will be doing to put the
students at ease.
2)Teachers need to be in the right frame of mind for this activity. We are doing this activity not to “test” children
but to get a sense of their reading levels. DO NOT get angry, prompt or coach the children during the test.
3)A separate room is needed for this exercise which is a relatively quiet room for recording not in the presence of
other students.
4)The test will be done one student at a time using earphones.
5)The task can be delegated to any teacher as long as the protocol for recording students is being followed and
all students are recorded from the class.
6)Note: There is not need to selectively zip and upload recordings from your device. If there are any
issues with any student recordings, you can record the student again. The last attempt of the student
will be considered as final for assessment. Recordings done for Roll No 0 in the class are not
considered for analysis.

For English & Hindi Teachers of Class 3-8 (August 20 - Sept. 10):
-List of students (initials & roll number) will be visible in the App
Note: Only student initials will be displayed in the TARA App in accordance
with the privacy policy of the TARA App.
-Test each student by following protocols given on the previous slide

-“Upload test attempts” once at the end of every day. Not needed to be
done after recording each student unless you have less than 10 MB free
space on your device.

Keeping track of students tested in the
TARA Android App

Student Recordings Uploaded History
It is difficult for teachers to keep track whether a student has already been tested
or not especially if the test is being conducted on multiple days.
Step 1: Ensure that you have already “Uploaded test attempts” from your device
before. Reopen the App.

Student Recordings Uploaded History
Step 2: Tap on “Stories” and Tap on “Select” for the Story.

Student Recordings Uploaded History
Step 3: Check “Student Tested” status

Resolving Technical Issues

Protocols for resolving technical issue
1)If you face any technical issues while using the TARA Web Portal or Android
App, please get in touch with your Cluster trainer.
