FOREIGN LANGUAGE The same as second langugae in the sense at the language is learned after the first language. There is a difference: L-2 = national langugae; foreign langugae = in a classroom where the foreign langugae is learned. 4

INFORMAL AND FORMAL ASSESSMENTS INFORMAL Informal assessment can take a number forms, starting with accindental, unplanned comments and responses, along with the coaching or inpromptu feedback to the students. 19 FORMAL Formal assessments are exercises or procedures specifically designed to tap into a storehouse of skills and knowledge.

FORMATIVE AND SUMMATIVE 20

FORMATIVE AND SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS Formative assessment is evaluating students in the process of “forming” their competencies and skills with the goal of helping them to continue that growth process. Summative assessment aims to measure, or summarize what a students has grasped, and typically occurs at the end of a course or unit of instruction. 21

NORM- AND CRITERION- 22

NORM-REFERENCED AND CRITERION-REFERENCED TESTS Norm-referenced test is when the scores are usually reported back to the test-takers along a mathematical continuum in rank order. Criterion-referenced test is designed to give test-takers feedback, usually in the form of grades or spesific course or learning objectives. 23
