Characteristics of a good tlm 1. A good TLM is meaningful & always stands to serve a purpose. 2. Up to mark & up to date 3. Simple , cheap & may be improvised 4. Prepared from whatever is available. 5. Involves learners in its making, student driven (Creation of Knowledge)

DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS OF TLMs: 1.Cost effective 2.Different varieties 3.Use locally available materials 4.Use collected materials- cartons, boxes, old picture books, calendars, matchboxes, cloth, 5.Use natural materials likes and stone ,clay , leaves, flowersetc 6.Plannedforpoolanduse(parallel teachers) 7.Reusable for a short term 8.Presentable 9.Childfriendly-with out rough, sharp edges, made of non-toxic material 10. An Effective TLM TLMs are not just for teachers. 1. Need not be created and used by the teacher only . Unless TLM is “By the learners, for the learners & of the learners ” it becomes just a decorative showpiece. Give children a chance & try to learn from them. There is no teaching until pupil is a given a chance to interchange the role with a teacher.
