HISTORY OF MULTIGRADE CLASSES What is multigrade class? - A multigrade class refers to a class that has two or more grade level of children in one classroom.

HISTORY OF MULTIGRADE CLASSES The following conditions where multigrade teaching arises: 1. School with low population 2. Classrooms are distributed at various locations 3. Decline of the number of students 4. Children to more popular schools
HISTORY OF MULTIGRADE CLASSES 5. The number of students exceeds official class size requirements causing students from diffferent grade levels to be combined. 6. Higher teacher absenteeism 7. Less deployment of teacher 8. Pedagogical purpose.
A multigrade teacher plays a various roles as she/he performs the task in handling students with varied age level. ROLES OF A MULTIGRADE TEACHER
The roles of the multigrade teacher are uniquely different from a monograde teacher. She/he performs as a researcher. ROLES OF A MULTIGRADE TEACHER

THE BASES OF THE MULTIGRADE PROGRAM IN THE PHILPIPINES 1. The following provisions in the Philippine Constitution serve as basis for the implementation of the Multigrade Program in the Philippines.

UNDERPINNING PHILOSOPHIES AND PRINCIPLES OF MULTIGRADE TEACHING DIFFERENTIATION – In multigrade teaching it refers to how the same teacher organizes learning for different individuals and/or group of learners.
UNDERPINNING PHILOSOPHIES AND PRINCIPLES OF MULTIGRADE TEACHING In a multigrade classroom with students from grade 3 and 4, the teacher is conducting a math lesson on addition and subtraction.
UNDERPINNING PHILOSOPHIES AND PRINCIPLES OF MULTIGRADE TEACHING 1. The teacher provides different sets of math problems based on each student’s grade level and ability. Grade 3 students receive simpler problems involving single-digit numbers, while grade 4 students work on more complex problems with larger numbers.
