Elements used in the poem is speaker/persona, diction, figures of speech, image, tone, theme, sound pattern/rhyme. 1. The speaker of the poem “ Pansit ” is a child of a married couple who still remembers clearly what had happened during that day. The child in the poem reminisced what he had witnessed. The misery of his mother hurt by his father. The speaker in the poem could have had a trauma seeing what his father have done to his mother that made him not to forget the experience.
The meaning derived from the 2. figures of speech revealed in the poems as to: Durado’s Pansit Gipuga sa atong bintana ang na limonsitong buwan ,” the line shows figurativeness by using two distinct entities, “ limonsito ” and “ buwan ”, turning these two entities into a phrasal metaphor. The wife, is symbolized as the moon who is filled with mysteries. With the aid of the attributive adjective, nalimonsito from the word limonsito , the wife becomes like one who is flavored, or tastes sour, which symbolizes her husband, because of the experiences she has with him every night as he is already sick of her cooking of the dish, pansit .
The structure and form of the poem uses denotation and connotation, 3. the images created from the aforementioned variables, the persona-vision addressee correspondence evoked in the poem Pansit , and the universal realities that dominate in the selections D urado’s poetry glories in the richness of folk and popular speech – earthy and playful. Reckless and disciplined, vulgar, sly comic and subversive. But it also poetry that is vitally current and global.
4. The tone of the poem is indeed a picture of misery for some wives and even children. But what is great is that it inspires the readers to work better to be a loving person who loves herself as well. If men who hurt their wives would only read this, they would know, women are meant to be love and to be a co-worker and not a receiver of pain and agony.
