The term history comes from the Greek historia (ἱστορία),
"an account of one's inquiries," and shares that
etymology with the English word story.
As an academic field, it encompasses both knowledge of
past events and historical thinking skills. This includes
analysis and interpretation of historical accounts
(thinking about history), not just the learning of dates
and names (knowing history). It involves asking whether
alternative accounts might tell a different story, or
whether the account contains any bias.

According to Cristobal (2019), historical
distortion occurs when historical
accounts or narratives are changed to
suit a personal agenda. It involves
disinformation and lies to change history.

Historical revisionism involves
a reinterpretation of a past
event or a presentation of new
narratives based on newly
discovered facts.

Economics focuses on the behaviour and
interactions of economic agents and how
economies work.
Microeconomics analyzes what's viewed as basic
elements in the economy, including individual
agents and markets, their interactions, and the
outcomes of interactions. Individual agents may
include, for example, households, firms, buyers,
and sellers.
