4. TEACHING PATHFINDER CURRICULUM Objective of this Section To discover the importance and value of creative approaches to teaching the Pathfinder curriculum. Philosophy Look at the requirement and ask, “What are the kids expected to gain from this requirement?” “What is the best way I can help them get there?”

6. God's work can never be finished without the young people. Because The future of this cause depends upon them. The Youth Ministry must save its youth, train them for service and involve them in the commission, (CYDM) "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come" (Matt. 24: 14)

7. HOW DO WE THEN BECOME RELEVANT AS A MINISTRY? When we talk about being relevant, we should refer to our gospel commission The gospel commission can be met in several ways i.e Way of life, outreach ministry etc.

8. If we are to be relevant, we need to be a practical ministry We need to realize and accept that times have changed and we are dealing with a group of young people with varying needs, This group is also very sophiscated sometimes They know a lot of things and are ready to explore anything.

9. Therefore, We need to include cross cutting issues such as; Sex, abortion, Pornography, relationships etc in our activities Once they are groomed in these issues, they shall be ambassadors to the secular world

10. REMEMBER, That 60% of the pathfinders do not go to Christian schools, And the world has a lot to offer them. We, as pathfinder directors, need to realize this……………. We seriously need to delve deeper each day into the study and knowledge of the Word of God .

11. LET US NOT BABYSIT Youth don't need "babysitters," they need leaders to help them find better ways to serve their church and be ready for the Lord's returning. Therefore, all programs and activities should have the sole purpose of helping youth to grow spiritually and to mature into well-developed persons. (Conference Youth Directors Manual p. 11)

12. LET US THEREFORE AS CLUB DIRECTORS; Assist in developing the Pathfinder’s appreciation for nature and a concern for the environment. Teach Pathfinders specific skills and hobbies that will make their life meaningful and will occupy their time profitably.

13. CONT… Help keep Pathfinders physically fit. Give opportunities for the development of leadership . Assist Pathfinders in developing a balanced physical, mental, social, and spiritual life .

14. OUTREACH MINISTRY “ Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age .” Matt. 28:19-20 NIV

15. OUTREACH MINISTRY “ Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young , but set an example for the believers in speech , in life , in love , in faith and in purity .” 2 Timothy 4:12 NIV

16. OUTREACH MINISTRY “The greatest want of the world it the want of men (and women). Men (and women) who will not be bought or sold . Men (and women) who in their inmost souls are true and honest , men (and women) who do not fear to call sin by it’s right name , men (and women) whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole. Men (and women) who will stand for right though the heavens fall.” Education pg. 57

17. OUTREACH MINISTRY The Pathfinder Club Itself Makes a Wonderful Outreach Tool How many pathfinders do you have in your club who don’t come from Adventist families? (we need to be sensitive with regard to where our members come from.) As they come for club meetings let us ensure to make our meetings a soul winning ventures.

18. OUTREACH MINISTRY How Do We Create An Environment Where Our Pathfinders are Encouraged and Coached into BEING Leaders?

20. Personal Growth Section How can we help the pathfinders learn what they need to know? HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS FUN!!? Challenge them to ask questions during bible studies at church and home, Push for preaching slots through PM for them. Example,

21. Serving Others Section How can we help the pathfinders learn what they need to know? HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS FUN!!? How can these children be saved and save others too????? Plan monthly Outreach activities in small groups i.e Units or classes TEACHING PATHFINDER CURRICULUM

22. Making Friends Section How can we help the pathfinders learn what they need to know? HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS FUN!!? WE CAN GO THE CPC WAY TEACHING PATHFINDER CURRICULUM

23. Health & Fitness Section How can we help the pathfinders learn what they need to know? HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS FUN!!? What about taking them out for a tour to the gym or soccer academies? TEACHING PATHFINDER CURRICULUM

24. Nature Study Section How can we help the pathfinders learn what they need to know? HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS FUN!!? Do not teach this at church! TEACHING PATHFINDER CURRICULUM

25. Outdoor Living Section How can we help the pathfinders learn what they need to know? HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS FUN!!? Do a lot of campouts like wilderness living, hiking etc. TEACHING PATHFINDER CURRICULUM

26. Honor Enrichment Section How can we help the pathfinders learn what they need to know? HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS FUN!!? These honors must be realistically taught and provide entrepreneurship skills to the pathfinder. They are the backbone of the club and ministry at large. From them, engineers, farmers etc are made. 27. CONCLUSION In His master plan, "the Lord has appointed the youth to be His helping hand" (Testimonies, vol. 7, p. 64). This army of youth, "rightly trained," can hasten the soon return of our Lord and Saviour . (Messages to Young People, p. 196.) If we are to be relevant, we need to meet both the needs of the church, family and community around us.
