Why Do We Need Educational Technology? Educational technology includes AI, social media, webinars and online workshops, and blogs. As we work, we can rely on technology to improve access and provide support to students so that they can thrive and be successful while they complete their education. As you proceed through this presentation, you will learn about different educational technology that is useful in the workplace and can improve our professional development.
AI in the Workplace Higher education leaders mostly use AI tools to increase efficiency of administrative processes and better support communication with students The most commonly used form of AI is ChatGPT . It serves as a means of creating quick and clear communicates for administrators. AI can also be used to maximize the performance of any creative content that higher education leaders make, such as through the use AI art tools. .
Using Social Media to Promote Better Marketing Strategies Social Media serves as a way to promote communication with current students, alumni, supporters, and perspective students. Instagram X LinkedIn Instagram marketing is a great chance to show off the vibrant colors of campus life as well as the beauty of the campus’ landscape and architecture. It also allows for followers to get involved with promoting through the ability of reposting on Instagram Stories. Instagram also has a robust way of sharing video content through Instagram Reels. X (formly known as Twitter) can be used to monitor communication and feedback about campus life, as well as boost engagement through strategic hashtags. It can also be used to track competitors. LinkedIn offers opportunities for student affairs marketing to showcase school success stories as well as promote the successes of alumni and employees of the organization. It can allow one to reflect first-hands insights about the school.
The Use of Webinars Webinars allow for the opportunity for participants and facilitators to communicate live over the Internet across any distance using a shared virtual platforms. They are a convenient and relaxed way for learners and educators to participate and engage with different concepts, such as topics of mental health, finances, and career planning. Webinars allow students to participate collaboratively workshops with a remote instructor in real-time to create an enjoyable interactive learning experience.
Learning How to Use Blogs in Student Affairs A blog is a web page that can consist of brief paragraphs of information, personal journal entries, publications, or opinions. Blogging can make a university more accessible to students and can increase search-ability on major search engines. Blogs can provide answers to questions that people are search for, such as topics on an institution’s financial aid policies, admission statistics, or degree programs.
Final Reflections Higher education is an industry built on relationships and mentorships. Technology can be used to connect with students and faculty to facilitate better relationships with the institution. By increasing our use of technology through our professional development, we can create an institution that has improved adaptability, more enriched collaboration, and more enjoyable learning experiences for students.
