The Impact of Study Spaces on Academic Performance of Pre-Service Mathematics Teachers
Introduction
Statement of the Problem This study seeks to investigate the influence of study spaces on the academic performance of pre service mathematics teachers. It aims to understand how the physical quality of environments interact with the academic performance of mathematics future educator. While there have been studies on general academic performance factors, there is a gap in research regarding how specific environmental conditions such as study spaces affect the academic outcomes of pre-service mathematics teacher. This study therefore aims to address this gap by examining the role of study spaces as a contributing factor to academic achievement in mathematics education.
Research Objectives To describe the study spaces of pre-service mathematics teacher in terms of living arrangement, noise level, and presence of distractions. To determine the level of academic performance of pre-service mathematics teachers. To find out the impact of study spaces conditions on academic performance of pre-service mathematics teacher. To identify significant differences in study space conditions of pre-service mathematics teacher. To investigate the relationship between the conditions of study spaces and the academic performance of pre-service mathematics teachers.
Research Questions 1. How are the study spaces of pre-service mathematics teachers be described in terms of; a. L iving Arrangement b. Noise Level c. Presence of Distractions 2. What is the level of academic performance of pre-service mathematics teachers?
Research Questions 3. How do their conditions of study spaces impact academic performance? 4. Is there a significant difference in the pre-service mathematics teacher’s conditions of study spaces when grouped according to age , sex, year level, and academic performance ? 5. Is there a significant relationship between the conditions of study spaces and academic performance of pre-service mathematics teacher?
Significance of Study This study is important because it explores how the physical and environmental conditions of study spaces can influence the academic performance of pre-service mathematics teachers. These future educators are in crucial stage of their development. And, understanding the factors that affect their learning is essential for improving both their preparation and teaching effectiveness. By focusing on study space conditions such as living arrangements, noise levels, and the presence of distractions, this research helps us understand how environment contributes to the pre-service mathematics teachers learning outcomes. The results will be beneficial not only for the students themselves but also for teacher education institution that aim to support academic success and promote more effective study environments. This study also contributes to the growing body of literature on educational environments and provides valuable insights for researchers in the field of mathematics education.
Limitation of the Study Time and resource constraints Incomplete data
Delimitation of the Study While numerous factors may influence the academic performance of pre-service mathematics teachers, this study will not address all of these aspects. Due to the limitations of the research, the investigation will be confined solely to the impact of study spaces on academic performance. Other potential influences will be considered beyond the boundaries of this study. Therefore, the study will only be restricted to the variable that is mentioned in the study.
